Alpha Gamma Delta is here to impact the world and we’re ready to do so right here at the University of North Florida. It’s a big task, but we believe everyone can make a difference.
The women who join Alpha Gam at UNF will have the opportunity to create their service and philanthropy legacy for their chapter. Additionally, they will support the efforts of their peers by attending other groups’ events or helping raise awareness for causes they are passionate about. They will contribute their time, their energy, their funds and their voice to making a difference because what they do matters.
Our philanthropic cause, at the international level, is diabetes awareness and education. The American Diabetes Association estimates that over 8 percent of the American population has diabetes–that’s over 2.5 million men, women and children. It’s the leading cause of kidney failure and blindness, and with almost 2 million cases undiagnosed each year, it’s a growing concern in our communities. In Duval County alone, 11.5% of adults have been diagnosed. That means approximately 1 out of 11 classmates, professors, faculty and staff in the UNF community are affected.
Because we know that what we do matters, we are excited to take action and support the local community during our recruitment process by partnering with Camp JADA in Jacksonville for our “Here to Impact the World” Event. Come participate in an awareness walk with us and learn more about what you can do to support those affected by diabetes.
